STATEMENT

Flowers have long been a symbol for female iconography. I use my drawings as the source for exploring both this iconography and the challenges of painting.
This exploration has to do with the cultivation of the tactile dimension of things –- continual feedback between matter and sensation - a proprioceptive activity and an area lacking in our ever increasingly technological age. I hope to create a synthesis via the medium of paint of mystery, energy and aliveness.
