20 x 20 Artist Talks

Thursday 11th January
6.30pm for a 7pm start

Please come and join us on 11th January to hear Harry Payne, Clive Tagg and Markella Korai talk about their recent work. We open at 6.30pm to socialise and have a drink for a 7pm start. It will finish by 9pm.

Each artist will use the Pecha Kucha format of 20 images for 20 seconds each, giving us scope to take in their practice/research and leave time at the end for questions and points of discussion. This event brings together an established studio holder, a new off-site member, and our newest resident.

Admission is free.

Off-site ASP member Harry Payne is a multidisciplinary artist whose works explore the realms of history, society, and culture. With a fascination for the past and weaving together narratives, objects and imagery from different historical periods. Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of human history, he employs a diverse range of mediums and techniques to explore the complex interplay between time, experience, and society.

Our newest studio holder Clive Tagg makes stuff in reaction to mundane and absurd by-products of human systems. He has a long-standing interest in undocumented history and enjoys going down rabbit holes dug into grey areas, imperfections or contradictions particularly in communication, governance or value. He uses whatever works at the time to create and keeps going until it smells good. Clive takes up residence after a 35 year escape from Portsmouth, and we look forward to welcoming him to ASP.

ASP studio holder Markella Korai is a visual artist, there is an experimental approach to her work, ongoing research with the materiality of paint. She explores idea of collaboration, culture and the experience of being alive at this particular period of time. Observing the unnoticed, inspired by the details and simplicity of life. She uses paintings, series of drawings, photographs to create thought provoking installations.
