Julie's continued engagement with textiles attempts to concentrate on understanding the working lives of their makers: whether textiles are made in factories or domestic situations, or for the purpose of earning a living of for the sheer pleasure of it.

Whether made with the help of simple tools or with the use of the latest technology, the human factor involved cannot be ignored. It is often the invisible and silent makers of textiles whom Julie attempts to make visible.

Julie has recently relocated to Portsmouth from London. At the end of the six-month residency Julie will be exhibiting her work in GASP (Gallery Art Space Portsmouth).
